PROTESTKUNDGEBUNG FREITAG 01/07/2022 SPANISCHE BOTSCHAFT ATHEN
Am Freitag dem 24.06.2022 versuchten circa 2000 Menschen die Grenze zwischen Marokko und der spanischen Enklave Melilla zu überqueren. Dabei wurden dutzende von marokkanischen und spanischen Grenzbeamt*innen zu Tode geprügelt und schwer verletzt. Laut Angaben von NGOs beträgt die Zahl der Toten momentan 37.
Da es keine medizinische Versorgung oder andere Formen der Unterstützung für die Verwundeten gab, erlagen in der Nacht noch weitere Menschen ihren Verletzungen. Menschen wurden auf Haufen geworfen, und es wurde nicht einmal versucht, die Toten von den Verwundeten zu trennen.
Das Menschen auf der Flucht nach Europa sterben ist schon lange nichts Neues mehr. Pushbacks am Grenzfluss Evros, an der bosnisch-kroatischen Grenze, in der Ägais, die immer gefährlicher werdenen Wege durch die Sahara und das Mittelmeer oder die militärische Abschottung des Gebietes zwischen Polen und Belarus im Winter 21/22 sind nur einige Beispiele dafür wie die EU bewusst den Tod von Menschen in Kauf nimmt, um Migration zu verhindern. Gerade das Massaker von Melilla reiht sich in eine Entwicklung ein, die zeigt dass Grenzgewalt in den letzten Jahren immer sichtbarer und brutaler wird. Es ist leichter, Tote im Mittelmeer unsichtbar zu machen als Menschen zu Tode zu prügeln und Verletzte vor den eigenen Augen sterben zu lassen. Doch in beiden Fällen trägt die EU die Verantwortung.
Migration wird zunehmend als Bedrohung inszeniert. Die Rethorik, mit der auf politischer Ebene über Migration gesprochen und verhandelt wird, zeichnet ein Bild von einer Gefahr, die die Integrität, den Wohlstand und die Sicherheit der (weißen) europäischen Bevölkerung gefährdet. Besonders Polen hat dieses Bedrohungszenario letzten Winter sehr deutlich gemacht und kriegsähnliche Bilder inszeniert.
Doch diese Rethorik hält auch zunehmend Einzug auf institutioneller Ebene:
Melilla und eine weitere spanische Enklave, Ceuta, im Norden Marokkos bilden die einzige Landgrenze der EU zum afrikanischen Kontinent. Nach dem jüngsten Abkommen zwischen Marokko und Spanien das eine gemeinsame Zusammenarbeit der beiden Staaten vorsieht, um die “Integrität der Grenze” zu schützen, fordert Spanien jetzt beim NATO Gipfel „ungeregelte Migration“ als „hybride Bedrohung“ auf der südlichen Seite der NATO einzuordnen.
Und das nur wenige Tage nach dem Massaker in Melilla.
Diese Forderung macht sichtbar, dass das kapitalistische System durch staatliche Dekadenz, wirtschaftlichen Wachstumswahnsinn und Militarisierung der Grenzen auf den Rücken der Menschen ausgetragen wird, die nicht zu den Reichen und Mächtigen gehören.
Profite werden maximiert, ohne ein Interesse an denen zu haben die darunter leiden. Damit zeigt sich, dass das menschliche Leben keinen Wert hat, wenn es nicht in das rassistische System der EU passt. Es ist nur dann kapitalistisch verwertbar, wenn weiterhin sichergestellt wird, dass das System der Ausbeutung fortbesteht.
Gleichzeitig werden seit Jahren Kriege im Interesse der Personen und Nationen geführt die politisch und wirtschaftlich die meiste Macht haben. Dadurch entstehen Fluchtursachen: Krieg, Armut und die Folgen des Klimawandels durch globale Ausbeutungsverhältnisse.
Miserable Lebensbedingungen in Lagern, das lange Festhalten in Abschiebeknästen unter Vorwand von Quarantäne Maßnahmen, fehlende medizinische Versorgung, Isolation außerhalb der Großstädte, Unterdrückung von Widerstand, Pushbacks und Abschiebungen machen deutlich das Migration mit allen Mitteln verhindert und kriminalisiert werden soll. Migration ist keine Bedrohung, sondern ein Menschenrecht. Das Recht auf Bewegungsfreiheit und ein sicheres Leben.
Menschen versuchen den Schrecken des Krieges, der Armut und Ausbeutung zu entkommen, und sterben bei dem Versuch, etwas von dem Leben zu erlangen, das ihnen genommen worden ist, sei es durch das Werfen von Bomben oder den Bau von Grenzzäunen.
Solidarität kennt keine Grenzen, sie ist dauerhaft und praktisch.

IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE VICTIMS OF THE MELILLA MASSACRE
PROTEST FRIDAY 01/07/2022 SPANISH EMBASSY ATHENS
On Friday 24/06/2022 about 2000 people tried to cross the border between Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Melilla. Dozens were beaten to death and seriously injured by Moroccan and Spanish border guards. According to NGOs, the number of dead is currently 37.
In the absence of medical care or other forms of support for the wounded, more people succumbed to their injuries during the night. People were thrown into piles, and there was not even an attempt to separate the dead from the wounded.
That peope are dying on their way to Europe is nothing new. Pushbacks at the border region Evros, at the Bosnian-Croatian border, in the Aegean Sea, the more and more dangerous ways through the Sahara and the Mediterranean or the military closure of the area between Poland and Belarus in winter 21/22 are only some examples of how the EU consciously accepts the death of people to prevent migration. Especially the massacre in Melilla is part of a development that shows that border violence is becoming more and more visible and brutal in the last years. It is easier to make dead people in the Mediterranean Sea invisible than to beat people to death and let injured people die in front of your own eyes. But in both cases, responsible for this is the EU.
Migration is increasingly staged as a threat. The rhetoric used to talk and negotiate about migration at the political level paints a picture of a danger that threatens the integrity, prosperity and security of the (white) European population. Poland in particular made this threat scenario very clear last winter, staging war-like images.
But this rhetoric is also increasingly taking hold at the institutional level:
Melilla and another Spanish enclave, Ceuta, in northern Morocco form the EU’s only land border with the African continent. After the recent agreement between Morocco and Spain that provides for joint cooperation between the two countries to protect the “integrity of the border,” Spain is now demanding at the NATO summit to classify “unregulated migration” as a “hybrid threat” on the southern side of NATO.
And this only a few days after the massacre in Melilla.
This demand makes visible that the capitalist system, through state decadence, economic growth madness and militarization of borders, is played out on the backs of people who do not belong to the rich and powerful.
Profits are maximized with no interest in those who suffer. This shows that human life has no value if it does not fit into the racist system of the EU. It is only capitalistically exploitable if it continues to be ensured that the system of exploitation continues.
At the same time, wars have been waged for years in the interests of the people and nations that have the most power politically and economically. This gives rise to causes of flight: War, poverty and the consequences of climate change due to global relations of exploitation.
Miserable living conditions in camps, long detention in deportation jails under the pretext of quarantine measures, lack of medical care, isolation outside the big cities, repression of resistance, pushbacks and deportations make it clear that migration is to be prevented and criminalized by all means. Migration is not a threat, but a human right. The right to freedom of movement and a safe life.
People try to escape the horrors of war, poverty and exploitation, and die trying to gain some of the life that has been taken from them, whether by throwing bombs or building border fences.
Solidarity knows no borders, it is permanent and practical.
